“Operations are a go!!” Through his execution of Project- S.T.A.R. (Students Turning in Assignments Responsibly) Raymond Lopez has helped his 7th and 8th grade students at Alta Vista Middle School achieve academic excellence. Raymond found an issue in his students turning in and completing work, so he implemented a 5-step program. Finding a common issue, creating a solution, thinking outside the box, collaborating with others, and adapting to change has been the guide for Lopez’s students to attack the problems they face with schoolwork.

Raymond’s dedication to his students is shown by his capacity to recognize a common issue and create solutions geared towards his students and their circumstances. Project-S.T.A.R. has delivered after-school tutoring services, academic resources, mentorship and advice from peers or other teachers. Because of Raymond’s diligence, his students have begun to strive for more.
