Thomas "Tom" Hellman is vice president, Operations, with responsibility for Marathon Oil’s Oklahoma and Permian operations. Tom joined Marathon in 2017 to help set up the Permian asset before moving into the regional vice president role in Oklahoma. Prior to joining Marathon, Tom served as vice president of drilling and completions for WPX Energy.

Prior to WPX, Tom served in various roles at Apache including vice president of Operations and director of Apache’s Horizontal Drilling and Completions team focusing on unconventional resource plays. Tom specialized in hydraulic fracturing at Amoco Production Company following a variety of technical roles in Houston, Tulsa and Calgary. He has worked onshore developments in Bogota, Australia, and Russia as well as offshore projects in GOM and Norway.

Mr. Hellman holds a bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering from the University of Alberta. He is on the Executive Board of the Petroleum Alliance of Oklahoma and on the Board of NMOGA.
