Top 250 Global Energy Company Rankings
On Sept. 9, 2019, the S&P Global Platts Top 250 Global Energy Company Rankings® for 2019 were issued, with Marathon Oil re-entering the rankings for the first time since 2015, moving up 174 spots as this year's third biggest mover.
Overall, the study ranked Marathon Oil as the number 6 E&P in the Americas; the tenth globally ranked E&P company, and the number 96 overall ranked energy company in the world.
The S&P Global Platts Top 250 Global Energy Company Rankings® were launched in 2002, and "calculates and ranks publically traded companies based on their asset worth, revenues, profits and return on invested capital. Each company listed in the Platts Top 250 has distinguished itself through its remarkable performance and the outstanding efforts and dedication of its team in the previous year," according to the organization's web site.
The Top 250 Rankings are routinely used to identify the biggest players in energy, monitor global trends, and to measure performance against competitors within the energy sector.
